Plaza — Cinematic Elevator Capsules
Invited by the Fondation Plaza, we developed a series of immersive video installations for the three elevators of the Mont-Blanc Centre Plaza in Geneva, transforming everyday spaces of transition into small cinematic experiences.
Conceived specifically for the architecture of the elevators, the project explores cinema through a series of visual interpretations inspired by iconic films. Rather than directly reproducing cinematic scenes, each installation extracts fragments, atmospheres, and symbols from film history to create new imaginary landscapes.
The project began in November 2024 with Tumbleweed, inspired by the visual language of Western cinema. Taking the iconic rolling plant as its central character, the installation evokes vast desert landscapes, wandering, and the anticipation of change.
The second chapter, Gone South, draws inspiration from Ridley Scott's Thelma & Louise, reinterpreting the road movie through themes of escape, freedom, and emancipation. Desert landscapes and shifting perspectives transform the elevators into spaces of imaginary travel.
The third installation, 3 and a Half, revisits Federico Fellini's 8½, exploring the boundaries between memory, dreams, and imagination through a fragmented visual narrative.
Across these three chapters, the elevators become miniature screening rooms, inviting visitors to experience cinema differently during the brief moments spent moving between floors.
