Tatzelwurm - 2026

Tatzelwurm — An Immersive Tale

For the Swiss National Day celebrations on August 1st, 2026, we created Tatzelwurm, a large-scale audiovisual performance presented in Meyrin, Geneva, to an audience of approximately 6,000 people.

Inspired by the legendary Tatzelwurm, a mysterious creature from Alpine folklore, the project brought together traditional storytelling and contemporary digital technologies.

Developed in collaboration with storyteller Vi Indigaia and actress Charlotte Chabbey, the project emerged from a dialogue between oral storytelling, theatrical performance, and digital creation. Together, we explored how a traditional tale could be reimagined as a contemporary audiovisual experience, with the mythical creature at the heart of a narrative unfolding through voice, performance, moving images, sound, and light.

The challenge was to translate this story into a monumental visual experience, transforming the performance space into a living environment. We designed a scenography combining architectural video mapping across 99 wooden beams, a large LED screen, and a digitally animated creature.

The Tatzelwurm was developed as a fully rigged 3D character, allowing its long, serpentine body and expressive features to move organically. Using real-time animation techniques, we brought the creature to life and integrated it into the visual narrative, creating a dialogue between the physical stage and the virtual world.

Through this collaboration, storytelling and performance became central elements of the visual creation, shaping the rhythm, atmosphere, and dramaturgy of the experience.
